About The Author

Richard Eisner lives in Weston, CT with his wife Carole and their three dogs. A graduate of Yale University and Harvard Business School, Eisner co-founded Eisner LLP, now EisnerAmper LLP and Eisner Advisory Group LLC in December 1963 and managed the firm until his retirement in 2008.

In retirement, he wrote his memoir, What I Learned During a Lifetime. He then wrote Courage and Justice, a work inspired by the people he met while he served as a trustee of The Fortune Society.

As he said:

Not until I met and worked with people who had been incarcerated for many years, and who upon release from prison desperately wanted to change their lives, did I begin to truly appreciate the essence of redemption and that people deserve a second chance.

I saw how unfair life is in that some people are blessed with wonderful upbringings, while others are so badly deprived of material things and most importantly, of people to care about them in their early years.

At The Fortune Society, residents in their programs are continually encouraged to help others who may be having problems adjusting to the outside world. The camaraderie I witnessed between those residents inspired me and this novel is the result.
